Black Monday repeat math: 20.5% off 7,659 is ~1,570 pts, but the 20% circuit breaker halts trading near 6,128
Monday is the 39th anniversary of Black Monday, when the S&P 500 fell 20.5% on Oct. 19, 1987. Crash talk is all over X after the index closed Friday at 7,659.44, its worst week since June.
A repeat would mean about 1,570 points in a day. It can't finish that way now: the 20% market-wide circuit breaker ends trading for the day near 6,128. The 7% pause kicks in around 7,123.
