Sept CPI 0.6% MoM annualizes to ~7.4%; S&P worst day since July
September US consumer prices rose 0.6% month over month and 3.7% year over year Wednesday, hotter than the ~3.6% annual forecast and enough to knock the S&P 500 down about 1.1% for its worst day since late July.
That monthly pace annualizes to roughly 7.4%. The Fed's 2% target looks far away if that run rate sticks.
