Marvell just agreed to buy Lumentum for $115 billion in stock. One of the biggest tech deals ever and it's really a bet on lasers 🔦

Lumentum holders get 4.5 Marvell shares each, about $1,132 a share and a 24% premium to the Oct 28 close.

Why? AI data centers are outgrowing copper and moving to optical links. Lumentum makes the lasers and says capacity is basically sold out into early 2029. Revenue just grew 136% to $1.26B.

I think this is a supply play more than anything because the AI bottleneck is parts you can actually get. It also gives @MarvellTech a real shot at Broadcom. @Lumentum $MRVL $LITE
