BofA Q3 miss + $1.2B AML fine: ~24 cents per unreported dollar, ~15% of a quarter's profit

Bank of America missed third-quarter estimates Wednesday ($1.08 adjusted EPS vs ~$1.10 expected) and took a $1.2B charge for the anti-money-laundering fine Treasury announced Tuesday.

Treasury says the bank failed to report $5B+ of suspicious transactions on time. That's ~24 cents per unreported dollar and ~15% of one quarter's $8.1B adjusted profit. It stings. It won't dent the bank.
