Canada CPI 3.1% but 2.2% ex-gasoline: one item is ~0.9 pts, ~29% of headline, yet markets price ~84% hike odds

Statistics Canada said Monday that inflation rose to 3.1% in September, led by gasoline up 27.8% from a year ago. Traders now price ~84% odds of a Bank of Canada hike Oct 28.

Ex gasoline, CPI is 2.2%. So ~0.9 points, about 29% of the headline, is one item. Ex food and energy it's 2.1%. A hike here fights oil with mortgage rates.
