The company says it completed engineering sample validation of its sixth-generation DRAM platform built on 4F² vertical-channel architecture, with key performance targets met on actual wafers. 4F² shrinks cell area by about 33% versus the 6F² design that is today's industry standard.
CXMT plans to send 4F²-based DDR5 RDIMM server samples to customers by the end of 2026, and it says mass production depends on customer validation and market demand. Samsung has so far shown 10nm-class 4F² research at ISSCC 2026, and SK hynix is pursuing both 4F² vertical-gate and 3D DRAM. A research paper, a validated engineering sample and a qualified production part are different stages, so this is not yet a clean head-to-head on timing.
The interesting part is the direct pushback on Micron. Micron favors 6F² over commercializing 4F², arguing capacitor spacing limits the real density gain. CXMT countered that word-line and bit-line layout matter too. That is a fight over manufacturing trade-offs, and the answer has real consequences for server memory.
The financials give CXMT room to make that bet. Q3 gross margin was 89.53%, versus Micron's 87% and Samsung's consolidated 69.3%, though those figures cover different periods and business scopes.
Nine-month revenue rose 738.51% year over year to CNY 269.02 billion, and net profit swung to CNY 132.04 billion from a loss. If those server samples show up on schedule and clear customer qualification, I think the industry has to revisit how it thinks about CXMT. $MU
