Earlier this week Nvidia had expressed nonbinding interest in Meta's equity raise. That interest is now an announced $3 billion investment in Meta's offering, and it comes with a deeper partnership around Meta's Muse AI assistant and agents.
The partnership covers training and inference improvements, and Meta says it intends to expand its use of Nvidia hardware and networking. That includes the future Vera Rubin and Vera CPU systems, Spectrum-X Ethernet, and BlueField-4 processors.
The two are also considering work with Nvidia's OpenShell architecture and Sentry monitoring system so developers can define boundaries for autonomous AI. Jensen Huang described it as optimizing the computing infrastructure "end to end" for capable, efficient and secure AI agents.
Meanwhile, Meta's total anticipated equity funding has grown to about $97.5 billion, with common stock issuance raised from $22.5 billion to $25 billion. That total includes $12.5 billion of preferred shares and a planned $60 billion at-the-market program expected after Class C shares begin trading in 2027. Muse links into email, calendar, shopping and payments, so the agent security piece matters a lot here.
My read is that Nvidia is becoming an equity investor in a major customer, and that customer is signaling a bigger build-out on Nvidia's next-generation stack in the same announcement. It's a smart way to lock in demand. I'd like to know how much of that $3 billion ends up flowing back to Nvidia as hardware spend.
