The plant that built a record 291,000+ three-row SUVs in 2025 is the one GM chose to prepare for hybrids. To me, that says GM is hedging its EV bet where its volume actually lives. I'm still bullish on EVs over the long run, but GM clearly wants a hybrid answer for its best-selling family haulers first.

  • GM says Lansing-region investment will top $2 billion over several years. That total includes $1.25 billion previously announced for Lansing Grand River, so the Delta Township commitment alone is smaller than the headline number.
  • GM and the DOE are restructuring a previously awarded grant to fund Delta Township hybrid production. Reuters reported it at $500 million and, citing GM, said the funds were never released.
  • Reuters' sources say Traverse, Enclave and Acadia hybrids are planned. GM hasn't confirmed nameplates or timing yet, so for now this is preparation, not production.
  • Ford sold roughly 228,000 hybrids in 2025 and has been gaining share. Three-row SUV buyers are the customers who will feel this first.

$GM closed up 5.54% at $80.54 on Oct 27 and traded at $80.75 after hours, though coverage ties most of that move to the Nasdaq listing transfer. I'll get more interested once GM names the models and the DOE restructuring is actually finalized.
