Gold hits a one-year low near $3,880 and silver breaks $50; silver is ~60% off its January peak, over 2x gold's drawdown

Gold hit a one-year low Friday near $3,880 an ounce and silver fell below $50 for the first time since November 2025, as tech losses and Fed hike bets forced selling.

Silver topped out around $121 in January. At $49 it has lost about 60%, more than twice gold's 28% drop from its record. The safe haven trade turned into the margin call trade.
