Office workers doing chart reading and screen clicking are the people Tencent is aiming Hy4 at. If the weights ship as planned, the agent layer gets a lot cheaper for everyone outside the big US labs.
- Tencent announced Hy4 on November 4: 770 billion parameters, reads charts and documents, reasons across multiple images, and operates command-line tools and GUIs. It's hosted now, and Tencent says weights and a system card come in the coming days.
- Tencent lists roughly $0.90 per million input tokens and $2.70 output, with cached input at $0.045, plus 50% off on TokenHub through December 31.
- It's already wired into WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy, with free usage November 4-15. That puts it in front of the exact users it targets.
- Tencent's own tests put it level with Z.ai, Moonshot and DeepSeek. Bloomberg notes it still trails top proprietary models.
$TCEHY was quoted up 5.06% at $52.97, while Tencent closed up 1.11% in Hong Kong, so I wouldn't pin the whole gap on Hy4. I stay bullish on open weights, but I'll judge this one when the weights drop and independent testers try the computer-use claims. Could be wrong if it disappoints in the wild.
