Amazon shares rose 4.58% on Monday. The stock hit $284.02 and pushed the market cap to about $3.06 trillion for the first time. Amazon is now the fifth company ever to cross this level. It joins Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet. Nvidia remains the largest at near $5 trillion.

This move extends a rally that began after strong earnings on July 30. Amazon stock has gained about 4.6% since the post-earnings close of $271.58.

AWS delivered $42.23 billion in Q2 revenue. That is up 36.7% year over year and marks its fastest growth rate in 18 quarters. This result beat Wall Street estimates of about $40.54 billion by roughly $1.7 billion. AI demand and core services drove the gain.

The speedup in AWS growth matters most for the business path. The cloud segment had slowed for a long time. Now it is picking up speed again as enterprise AI workloads turn into real revenue.

The new market cap milestone shows how investors view Amazon today. They are repricing the stock based on fresh cloud momentum. Retail and advertising strength alone do not explain this shift.
