Interest is eating 20 cents of every tax dollar

The US ran a ~$2T deficit in FY2026 on $5.4T of revenue. Interest alone topped $1.1T.

That's about 20 cents of every tax dollar going to interest, or roughly $3B a day.

And the 30-year just cleared at 5.618%, the highest since 2000. New debt costs even more.
