Miguel Armaza traveled to Almaty for a new Fintech Leaders podcast episode. He sat down with Kaspi CEO Mikhail Lomtadze for their second interview in two years.
The company posted $2.3 billion in revenue and $539 million in net income for Q2. Profits stayed flat year over year due to funding costs and investment in Türkiye.
International growth is the next big test for this super app model. Kaspi now has about 25 million users across Kazakhstan and Türkiye after buying Hepsiburada.
They aim for 100 million users over the long term instead of claiming quick saturation. This plan applies a proven domestic strategy to a much larger market.
Kaspi also launched its Kasper AI assistant on July 1. This tool adds new value to an app that people already use often.
Many fintechs only talk about ecosystem lock in as a future goal. Kaspi has already achieved it at home and is now building that advantage abroad.
